Strange. Yet True.
This mainly happens when you’ve been burning the candle at both ends and feel a little run down.
Instances like yelling at staff because their service wasn’t up to par… or getting moody when life doesn’t go your way…
These little tantrums stimulate your adrenal glands to fire up and hey presto… the shot of cortisol you get… is often as addictive as a good cup of coffee. It raises your mental game, you feel energized and you’re empowered to get things done.
The problem however, and this is important – you’re wiring yourself to behave this way again and again… while ignoring the reality that;
a) What comes up must come down. You cannot stay ‘energized’!
b) Unchecked anger will lead to further exhaustion.
For a number of reasons this year has been stressful and if you’re mentally or emotionally frazzled, you’re more likely to go a little haywire and ‘demand a cortisol trip’ to help keep you going.
Always remember that basic lifestyle principles, inclusive of much needed downtime, is some of the best medicine you can self-prescribe. Look after yourself and have a fantastic week.
