When you think about exercise…

Stretching doesn’t jump to the forefront of your mind does it?

Yet stretching is a very important component of your physical well-being and fitness. Especially true if specific joints or muscles are restricted in your body. What areas come to mind?

Tight, stiff muscles often lead to excessive joint wear and tear and for many – an energy drop. This happens as excessive muscular-skeletal tension can restrict blood flow AND pull one’s skeleton out of alignment. (Poor posture robs you of energy)


Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a pro athlete or just, ‘move around a bit cause you know it’s good for you’… you don’t want to become injured. And poor ranges of motion often lead to pain, inflammation and injuries.

Flexibility is a strength! With every passing year both your muscles and joints tend to stiffen up… (not to mention the fact you lose muscle mass as you age) An active lifestyle that includes YOU STRETCHING is a good investment.

This does not mean going overboard and becoming hypermobile. Overly flexible joints destabilize your body and limit your strength. YOU know what area’s in your body require attention. Stretch them out regularly!

For those of you that want to stretch your confidence and create a new you, remember that all results you’re getting in life right now, stem from the concept you have of yourself. Resting and recovery is a power source to greater vitality, better creativity and higher productivity. To be still is powerful medicine.

Daily naps, meditations and tai chi sessions have all boomed in the last decade as people learned to manage stressful waking hours with periods of quiet and stillness. It makes sense when you benefit with more energy, faster anabolic repair, and a stronger immune system. To sustain optimal well-being and performance, learn to value the power of rest and recovery.

Do This Now or Stress May Take You Out

You instinctively know that to breathe is to live right? 

Think about it. You breathe constantly, 24/7 – day and night. Your autonomic nervous system ensures that your heart, lungs and diaphragm are synchronized so that you consistently pump oxygen around your body. Yet imagine if that system, which is foundational to living well, is improved. Think of the implications; deeper sleep, better mental well-being, improved blood pressure, immune function, energy and detoxification. (Just to name a few)

Your entire life would improve dramatically.

But.

There’s always a but…

It takes conscious awareness to teach automatic systems in your body to adapt, change and improve. You have to practice. Discipline is required to exercise your breath. If you are doing this all ready – fantastic, if you’re not – now is a good time to start. Choose a specific time each day and focus on improving your breathing mechanics. (Not to be confused with exercising and breathing heavily!) 


 Try the following. (First thing in the morning is recommended)

1) Find a seated or standing position where you feel relaxed and can remain calm.

2) Inhale through your nose for a count of five seconds and exhale smoothly for as long as you can, gently pulling your navel towards your spine as you do so.

3) Inhale for a count of six seconds and exhale as above.

4) Inhale for a count of seven seconds and exhale as above.

5) Continue to add another second with each breath until you reach twelve seconds.

6) Shake the body about, release any tension, and then repeat this process, beginning again with a five second inhale.

Notice the expansion happening inside your body and become aware of the power you have to influence your mind and body.

BREATHING is brilliant medicine, funneling life into the cells of your body.

This week – take a few minutes every day and work on improving your life force – through the power of your breath.

You either will or you won’t!

Age Exceptionally Well – Strength Secrets

How strong you are… matters.

A lot.

And what really matters… is your muscles

You either USE them or LOSE them.

It’s a fact that age related muscle loss frequently occurs with each passing year.

And due to the current situation world wide many people are not able to maintain their strength – which is vital if you desire health.

Ironic.

Non the less, it’s important you realize that your muscular skeletal system needs to be regularly used and challenged; in particular your strength and speed of movement. Remember, each time you move you’re re-training your central nervous system. If you never move with any vitality, always walk slowly or never take the stairs… how can you expect to be healthy and strong? 


The good news is that you can maintain muscle strength and even re-build muscle tissue. BUT you have to challenge the strength of your muscles regularly. Strength is key here. You must work on staying strong.

Thirty push ups is not strength. 3-7 heavy dumbbell presses is. Lifting a bar from floor to over head 50X is not strength, lifting a heavy bar a couple of times is. Pushing a light wheel-barrow all day long is not strength, loading it up heavy so you can lift and push it only a few meters, is. You get the picture?

I encourage you to maintain your strength and persist with doing what needs to be done – lift heavy stuff regularly and move with a bit of pace when you can!

Exercise in your modern world is very important if you want to live well.

You either use it or lose it.

Another year passing by.

How to Get What you Want

A quick truth this week…

Reminding you that the life you desire begins with giving.

You’ve heard that you get back in life what you give. It’s not so well known however, that giving is the first law of life.

A mother gives her time, energy and her body in order to give birth and receive new energy in the form of a beautiful baby.


Giving precedes the getting.

What do you want from life? More love, smiles and energy? More time and money?

Are you giving what you desire to get?

I hope so, because it’s been taught for centuries that what you give shall be given back to you.

Avoid thinking, after I get I will then give’ – that’s backwards! You’re here to live and give and enjoy the abundance that flows from that life principle.
